Join us for the most exotic Valentine’s event of the season

Why do male Panamanian golden frogs wave at the females? (Hint: it’s not just to be neighborly.) Were you aware that male gibbons rely on the sweet and sensual captivation of song? Their singing can reach potential mates up to half a mile away. (Maybe this is where Barry White got his inspiration.) And did you know that a male octopus’s penis breaks off during mating? (Don’t worry, it grows back the following season!)

On Saturday, February 14, 2015, find out about more interesting and perhaps unusual animal courtship and mating rituals at our wildest adults-only event of the year, Sex at the Zoo!  This wild Valentine’s Day event is full of fun and surprises as members of the Zoo’s animal staff divulge the secrets, scandals, and shocking facts of “love” in the animal world!

This year, the zoo’s adult-oriented evening will take place on the Mansion House Porch with a number of the Zoo’s Animal Ambassadors in attendance and ready for their photo opps. The event includes an open bar of beer, wine and soda, sumptuous hors d’oeuvres, decadent desserts and live jazz music by Jazz Caravan.

The event runs from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and is appropriate for those 21-and-over. Tickets are $80 per person or $135 per couple and should be purchased in advance at www.marylandzoo.org. Special Valentine’s Day “Adopt-an-Animal” packages will be available and there is plenty of free parking in front of the Mansion House. The birds and the bees will be here, and you should be too!
